Over the period of my experience with students, I have noticed 5 distinct characteristics of students that get A’s and how those habits can be part of their life.

1. Discipline
Every student can get an A every now and then. However, students who get consistent A’s are observed to be very disciplined in their studies and school. It can be safely assumed that those kids would finish their assignments first before getting indulged in their favorite pass-time. They set their priorities right. They can be trusted with tasks at hand and always follow-through.

2. Perseverance
One of the habits of successful students is that they are persistent in achieving their goals. They don’t give up easily. A famous basketball player was once interviewed and asked about his secret to success, his response was, “I was the first one to go to the practice and last one to leave the practice.”

The same analogy applies to the students. The best performing students always work on getting good at the subject.

3. Self-Motivated
Students with A’s are found to be self-motivated. They do not need much encouragement and motivation from others. They are determined to achieve excellence without being reminded about it. This is not to say that they know everything. But they do seek help readily when they get stuck. And of course, squeaky wheels get the grease.

4. Practice
Of course, no one is born genius, or a rare few are. But true success is “95% hard work and 5% genius”. So even if you think you are not one of the lucky ones, genius only adds 5% to the total equation. I would actually replace genius with “common sense” which we all have. No one is born with it, it comes with experience.
Students with A’s practice, practice and practice unless they are satisfied with their performance. Someone has said it right, “Practice makes perfect.” This has been true universally.

5. Responsible
Another habit of successful students is that they are found to be very responsible towards themselves and their community. They understand that getting A’s would make their parents and family proud and they do not leave any stone unturned to make their families proud.

So now that we have gone over some of the characteristics that are found in students with consistent A’s, how do we ensure that our kids have those characteristics?

Let me assure you that kids are not born with those characteristics. These characteristics are developed by having role models who are successful with students wanting to follow their in their footprints. Sometimes parents are the role models for their kids. But in today’s world when both parents are busy providing quality of life for their kids, it is important that parents ensure their kids have somebody around them who can set positive example for their kids.

A child’s brain is like a sponge, it absorbs whatever is thrown at it. That’s why it is very important for parents to ensure that their children have the right people around them. One of those people could be their tutors. So when you interview an online Saint Paul tutor for your child, it would certainly help to make sure that tutor possesses the traits that your child would like to emulate. Also, it is worth keeping in mind that people with those characteristics are by no means boring. In fact, from my personal experience, the more successful a person is, the better is his/her sense of humor.
