How to Be a Good Student in School

It oftentimes takes a tutor to teach a child how to be a good student in school. Much too often, teachers see underperforming students as failures. What they don't see are the positive strengths that each student possesses. An effective tutor will search for these strengths and teach them how to be a good student in school. Much too often, public school teachers do not take the time to search for these strengths due to "going-by-the-book" and teaching to the majority of the class. As these students lag farther and farther behind they often become behavior problems, sent from the classroom and further leading to their academic shortfall.



My job is to find these strengths, build upon them and teach kids how to be a good student in school. There's nothing that I like better than to see a "labeled" failure turn into an academic success. In math, it may be the Rote memorization of multiplication tables; in English it may be the utilization of phonics and Dolch sight words; in science it may be the mere memorization of vocabulary as well as hands-on experience. Whatever the problem is, I will search for an alternative answer and strive to teach your child how to be a good student in school.
