Anxiety Help for Students

If you find that your child becomes anxious during a test (or even just before), you can tell them to do the following proven methods for reducing anxiety for students:

1. Think Positive Thoughts. By thinking positive thoughts and silently saying: "I CAN do this", the student knows and re-ensures themselves that they understand and comprehend the material.

2. If they find themselves becoming tense during an exam, tell them to take a second to put their writing instrument down and ball their hands into a fist. By doing this, they release the tension that is in their hands.

3. Next tell them to rotate their shoulders backwards and forwards to relieve stress.

4. Finally, have them shut their eyes and take a deep calming breath. This usually helps to eliminate any nervous feelings they have before exams.
