Time Management Skills for College Students
By Meaghan Montrose
Going away to college marks a major transition in your life. It represents a time when you are becoming independent and self-sufficient. The college years are the last chance you have to learn before you enter the “real world”. (Of course there is still much learning that will take place after that!)
The college years are the perfect time to perfect and develop skills that will help you in the future with a career and family. One important lesson to learn is how to manage your time. More than ever before, you are in control of your daily actions. Your parents and teachers aren’t going to be there to check up on your progress or remind you of your responsibilities. It is up to you to manage your time effectively and balance your school and social obligations.
The College Finance 101 blog has some suggestions to help you learn the valuable skill of time management in the post Time is Valuable, Learn to Manage it in College. One piece of advice it to keep a consistent schedule and force yourself to get up early instead of sleeping the day away. This will allow you to be more productive and actually give you more energy to get through the day.
